The Sarnano Sassotetto time trial every year gives great emotions to fans of motoring and historic cars. It is always thrilling to see champions compete and celebrate the winner, especially when the winner is an Italian and European champion like Simone Faggioli.
And this year at the 26th Lodovico Scarfiotti Trophy - Memoria Giovanni Battistelli we had the good fortune to meet some women who truly honor sport with their passion and make this discipline even more beautiful.
We at Paul Meccanico, however, wanted to reward, with our handcrafted bags, not the fastest but these unique women, determined and driven by a great passion.
In particular we were happy and honored to have had a touching meeting from which a beautiful friendship was born made of deep admiration. Among these sports we met a girl who to define only a pilot would be an understatement: Rachele Somaschini.
The very young Rachel, 22 years old, is affected by Cystic Fibrosis, the most common rare genetic disease that affects about 1 newborn out of 2,500 - 2,700 in Italy alone. Unfortunately, there is still no definitive cure to date.
Rachele Somaschini collaborates with the Cystic Fibrosis RESEARCH FOUNDATION - ONLUS and the challenge of the twenty-two year old Rachele is to run the Italian Hill Climb Championship to promote and raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through the #abordoconRachele #RacingPerUnRespiro campaign.
After learning about Rachele's story, we decided to give her one of our Rolling model bags, a unique piece in the world numbered A5071, to organize a charity auction to raise funds to support research against cystic fibrosis.
